On microscopic examination, HCA is composed of uniform benign-appearing hepatocytes (A), and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) comprises tumor cells with a high nuclear to cytoplasmic ratio with nuclear irregularities and plates more than two cells in thickness (B).
